Hi All,

So I thought for my second blog post I’d talk a bit about the New Year and what that means for me. 2017 was a bit of a mixed year for me, I had a lot of highs and lows but everything seems to be on the up for the new year. I did have some highlights from 2017 that I would like to reflect upon in this post but also to talk about my goals, hopes, dreams and plans for 2018, so I can look back on them throughout the year.

2017 highlights

– Finishing Uni

So after 4 years over the summer I graduated from De Montfort university in Leicester, with a First class degree in Fashion Buying and Design, and it is without a doubt one of the proudest achievements of my life so far. I absolutely loved my time at uni, It taught me so much about myself, I met my incredible boyfriend, I have friends that I will treasure for the rest of my life and it also set me up amazingly for my future career.

– Getting my job at Next

From my degree I was fortunate enough to be working really closely with the fashion industry, we were presented with a project with Next where we had to design a range for there womenswear collection and 2 people would be shortlisted from this and then asked too present to Next at there head office. I was really fortune to have won this competition and from this was offered a job with Next. I have been there 6 months now, working as a trainee buyer on the childrenswear department and I absolutely love it! If any one ever has any questions about what I do, or more about fashion buying drop me a comment below and il happily get back to you!

Going skiing for the first time

This was definitely more of a love/hate experience! I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to go skiing with my lovely boyfriend and his family! This was a very marmite experience, I must say! At the beginning of the week I hated it, I was literally like Bambi on Ice. Then much to my amazement, after a mini crying fit half way through the week something seemed to click, don’t get me wrong I was still no pro but by the end of the week I was able to stand up and make it down the baby slopes unaided! It was definitely a challenge but something I’m definitely going to try again.

2018 Goals and Things Im looking forward too.

– I will officially be a home owner!

I am very fortunate in the fact I have been able to purchase my very first home, A beautiful 2 bedroom flat in Leicestershire. Having finished my degree last year, I was sick of moving around from place to place and just wanted to put down some routes somewhere. When the opportunity presented itself, I simply couldn’t turn it down. Its currently working its way through the solicitors, but I’m hoping to be in at the beginning of March, so a lot of home decor inspiration and work in progress posts to come!

– Trip to New York in March

This will my 3rd visit to the NYC over the last 4 years, I must say it is one of my favourite cities. I love the culture, FOOD, shopping and sight seeing. This year I will be going with my boyfriend as a long break away for his birthday, he has never been before so I can’t wait to show him. (Any recommendations of places to visit or eat please let me know!)

– Goal to Travel more

Although I’m going to New York, I really want to try and go on more mini European City Breaks. I’d love to go to Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Barcelona! So deffo going to try and get away more, and take some long weekend breaks to explore other parts of the world.

– Only put time and effort into people who deserve my friendship.

I’ve recently learnt that I need to evaluate some friendships, I’ve found the some people think its okay to only talk to me when they want or need something, but if I ever needed something from them they are no where to be found. I need to put my energy into those friendships with people who have been there for me through thick and thin and let go of those that have been very one sided.

– Read more books

I absolutely love reading and am a total book worm when I go on holiday, and can literally read a book a day. However that is normally the only time I do read, so I want to try and take at least an hour a day away from the computer and pick up a book and get lost in it.

And thats my lot! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post, and getting to know a bit more about me!

until next time.

Hi everyone!

As this is my first blog post I thought I should tell you a bit about myself, why I want to start blogging, and what type of posts I’ll be writing.

So, my name’s Zoe and I’m a 22 year old Trainee Fashion buyer, currently working for Next.

I’ve had a ‘Passion for Fashion’ for as long as I can remember. When I was little making clothes for my dolls was a weekly occurrence, one that has only grown into an amazing career which I am so thankful for. I graduated from De Montfort university over the summer and was fortunate enough to be offered a job with retailer Next as a Trainee Fashion Buyer, I’ve been there almost 6 months now and absolutely loving it, but there will be more of that in posts to come!

So why blogging? and why now?

Setting up a blog is something I’ve wanted to do for a few years (finally a tick for those new years resolutions!), and with 2018 finally here I thought it was about time! But I honestly had no idea to do it until my lovely friend and fellow blogger @healthystrawberry came round to my flat and basically showed me how to get into this wonderful world!

I’ve previously spoke about my love for Fashion and this is definitely something I want to post about, and to give my insights into the fashion industry, especially if this is a career you are thinking of pursuing. However I also have a keen interest in more minimalistic Scandinavian Inspired Interior design and Travel, so plan to write posts about these areas as well.

I hope you enjoy what I have to say, until we speak again!
